AC Editors Apps of the Week:Microtrip,snapseed etc...

It's Appday Sunday and that means we're back with more of our favorites to share. Every week we bring a handful of great apps to the table and share them with everyone. Sometimes they are new apps, sometimes old standards, but every time they are apps we love to use.

Give these a look and then take a minute to tell us all about the apps you are using and love so we can give them a try. We all find some of our favorites right in the comments on these posts!

Russell Holly — Microtrip

Tilt physics games are just about as far from new as you can get, especially when it comes to smartphones, but there's always room for improvement. Microtrip is a perfect example, taking the classic game mechanics and adding in different pitfalls and traps to send you flailing about to get the highest score before you microbe eventually dies.

It's a few hours of mindless fun at best, but it's free and full of pretty colors. You really can't ask for more.

Phil Nickinson — Snapseed

Snapseed has long been my photo editing tool of choice, and it deserves a new mention this week after receiving its first major update in, well, forever. You've got all the editing power you had before — and then some — in a much nicer interface, and now with non-destructive editing. If you're looking for a quick and easy way to make your images look better, this is one to try out.

Andrew Martonik — ustwo Watch Faces

The pre-installed watch faces on most Android Wear watches are nice — particularly on the Moto 360 — but after a few months wearing it you'll likely be interested in going for something new. I found and really love the set of watch faces on offer from the folks at ustwo (yes, that ustwo).

There were a good number of very nice looking and customizable watch faces available in the first release, but as of a few weeks ago there are a handful of new additions bringing the total package to 14 unique watch faces. I particularly like Invert and HUD, which both look nice on a round watch, but with the colors and customizations offered on each you can really dial in something that you like. Bonus is they're free!

Alex Dobie — Timely

Most Android phones ship with a basic alarm clock and clock widget of some sort, but few are anywhere near as good as Timely, a product of the (now Google-owned) Bitspin. Timely gives you a simple, stylish clock widget for your home screen, in addition to a fully featured alarm app with a unique visual style of its own. You can sync and control alarms across devices using your Google account, and use the "smart rise" function to gradually wake in time for your normal wake-up time. A recent update also added the ability to dismiss upcoming alarms before the fire (like stock Android), along with Google Now support.

So if you're a little bored with your phone's built-in offering, Timely is definitely worth a look — it's available for free from Google Play.

Jerry Hildenbrand — Shift Code Notifier

Having fun with the remastered and current-gen Borderlands THC? You'll have more fun if you spend your golden keys on questionable loot from the chest in Sanctuary!

Long-time Borderlands players know that Shift Codes for golden keys aren't hard to get, but Shift Code Notifier puts the latest codes from everywhere in one easy to use place. No more digging through social media or company websites to find codes means more time to play Borderlands! Everyone wins!

To be sure, I'm not picking this app because it's pretty. But it is super-functional if you're looking for Shift Codes for Playstation, Xbox or the PC. It's also simple to use — tap the icon for your system, enter the codes it displays, use the keys you get at the golden chest and then get loot that may or may not be totally badass.
